“Sierra Seeds seeks to reseed imaginations of a more beautiful and nourishing world through uplifting and mentoring emerging mentors, changemakers, visionaries, creative humans who are making nourishing contributions at the intersections of the landscape of food and seed sovereignty and cultural revitalization, who are cultivating foodways that grow from a foundation of belonging, connection, and culture.”
Sierra Seeds focuses on connections to the land, preserving and revitalizing ancient food traditions, medicinal storytelling, and seed rematriation. Run by Rowen White, author of “Planting Sacred Seeds in a Modern World”, an essay from Indigenous Food Sovereignty in the United States. White is one of many Indigenous Seed Keepers, and shares her knowledge, her seeds, and her traditions through Seed Seva. Seed Seva is an online educational workshop course designed to shift our perspectives on food and bring food sovereignty, seed sovereignty, and land/food based understandings of community to the forefront.
